RIYLL Update

A general discussion was opened regarding the possibility of EBBCLA needing to act independently of RIYLL for 2012 if RIYLL continues to fail in its basic functions.  Discussion was centered around the failure of RIYLL to produce a complete game schedule and all the successive issues that followed from trying to schedule the league two weeks at a time.  The Board all concurred that EBBCLA’s reputation had suffered and that we may suffer negative repercussions in next year’s enrollment.  The idea of joining a new league was discussed – perhaps something in Massachusetts.  It was resolved that Peter Ramsden would send a letter to Steve Deleo expressing EBLAX’s concerns and demanding that scheduling for 2012 be the primary and sole topic of the next RIYLL Board meeting.  We discussed the possibility that EBLAX could even take the lead in providing a scheduling solution for the League.

BMS Girls Club Lacrosse

At the invitation of BMS Girls Lacrosse Club, Matt, Peter and Ted attended a coffee meeting on May 5th with the leadership of the BMS Lax Board.  The meeting was called to open a discussion about the possible benefits of uniting the BMS and EBLAX under the leadership of one Board.  We agreed that EBLAX could bring a host of benefits related to registration, scheduling, communications, billing, and accounting.  We also discussed the potential for better recruitment of full time coaching talent.  The Board pondered the potential benefits to EBLAX of combining efforts with BMS and saw it primarily as a way to better serve our constituent families with a more comprehensive and coordinated program.  It was concluded that Matt Hayes would draft a formal reply to the BMS Board sketching out a basis for continued dialogue and te potential for modification of our bylaws.

Finally there was some brief discussion of our upcoming Summer Competitive season, and it was agreed that we should continue to offer this program despite competing programs such as NEU, Mettacomets, and Mass Elite.  East Bay Girls will be allowed to register tournament by tournament thus allowing them to play for us on weekends that do not conflict with other programs.

Adjournment

Matt Hayes made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Ted Broomhead and after a unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.

The next meeting is scheduled for 6/27/11 at the Barrington Public Library, 7pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Peter Ramsden
